Digital Mapping for Mining Explorationnextback
Cerro Lipez Area, Bolivia

Woolpert provided geographic information system (GIS) development services to assist a mining company in an exploration project.

High-quality color aerial photography was supplied at 1:30,000 negative scale for orthophoto/planimetric mapping and at 1:10,000 negative scale for topographic compilation for an area of approximately 498 square kilometers. In addition, two sets of photo mosaics at 1:20,000 scale were provided.

For the mapping component of the project, Woolpert established horizontal and vertical geodetic control. Satellite-based global positioning system (GPS) control points were acquired and included as part of the control layout. We also performed fully analytic triangulation for more than 400 stereo models, as well as stereo model adjustment and digital ortho-recertification for digital orthophoto map delivery.
